Every child is special in the world, they must be protecting and have a good atmosphere to grown well. Visuddhaloka is trying to create that kind of atmosphere for 50 children at least both boys and girls by giving food, accommodation and moral study with formal education which help their personality development. Appeal for Sakya Hostel (2009-2010)

Sakya Hostels for Tsunami hit children (boys & girls) in Manali New Town, Chennai, is one of the major achievements Visuddhaloka team. The Sakya hostels envision is to provide good environment for the educational development and advancement of the children, so that they live and contribute in the modern world with self confidence. After successful completion of 4 educational year at Sakya Hostels. This year 21 boys and 28 girls are seeking education through this organization. The children are admitted to the near by Government school from the hostels.

We seek your help to make our children the best individuals of the society. We need support from individuals / organizations to fulfill their needs in terms of food, clothing, study materials, stationaries, sports, medicine, cultural materials and any other essential requirements so as to enhance their improvement.

You are welcome to the Sakya hostels to share your happy and memorable moments with the students. You may celebrate your special days with our children. You may help us in any other ways by giving your precious time voluntarily. We solicit your support to help us to continue this noble task.

First Mass Dhamma Retreat in Tamilnadu

picture-0053The Friends of Nagarjuna Training Institute (NTI) are organizing the first Mass Retreat in Tamil Nadu, India from 12th March evening to 15th March evening 2009. This retreat is organized to gather around 300 people from South India.  It is a good opportunity to learn and practice the Dhamma with hundreds of follower of Buddha and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. This is truly a precious opportunity in South India to bring people together irrespective of class, caste and religious background. These retreats may have a considerable impact on society and an opportunity to explore the importance of practicing Dhamma to establish a casteless society in the true sense.

 

The major components of the retreat are Group Meditation, Dhamma Talks, Buddhist Formalities, Chanting Buddhist songs, Group Discussions and Buddhists Cultural Activities.

Lead by,

Dhammachari Lokamitra,

(Born in London 1947, he was ordained into the Western Buddhist Order (WBO) in 1974 by Sangharakshita, a trusted associate of Dr. Ambedkar. He is a well known figure in the Buddhist world. In 1977, he visited India as an Anagarika to learn Yoga and visit holy Buddhist sites. He was deeply affected by Deekshabhoomi sight in 1977 where he saw impact of conversion movement launched by Babasaheb Ambedkar. Since then, he is living in India and his life and mission is dedicated to movement of Babasaheb Ambedkar. He was instrumental in initiating activities of TBMSG in India.)

Your donation will help the Revival of Buddha Dhamma movement in South India. Chennai Book fair-2009 Flourished by Sakya hostel children

32nd Chennai Book Fair Starts from 8th -18th January 2009
at St. George Anglo Indian School, Poomalee High Road, Chennai
 
book-fair-pohoto-9book-fair-pohoto-6book-fair-pohoto-1Chennai Book fair accommodated with More than 500 stalls of various publishers and book sellers have been set up. The event is well organized. Each stall has different variety of books like Education, Science, History & Spiritual,  Dr. B. R. Ambedkar  writing and speeches Tamil translation is the highlight of the book fair   and walkway around half a kilometer like a snake move.
 
Sakya hostels children visited on 13th & 14th January 2009 simultaneously, they went to each and every stall. They could find variety of books at a 10% discount. they were happy to see more Books in present there, they went nearly 300 stalls. they spent time there to search, collect, read and buy the books. It was the happiest and meaningful occasion to spend the Holiday.
